It’s that time of year again! With the Round of 64 tipping off tomorrow, we’re less than 24 hours away from a full day of single elimination basketball.
In preparation for the tournament, we have released multiple pieces of content across different Hoop Vision platforms. We’ll get to those in a second, but first I want to extend an invitation to join the inaugural Hoop Vision bracket contest.
The pool — which is being hosted at ESPN — already has over 1,400 people signed up. It’s completely free to register. First place will receive an exclusive HV hoodie and second through fifth place will receive HV dri-fit t-shirts.
We would love to have you join!

Tournament Preview Podcast with Ken Pomeroy
This morning, we published a brand new Solving Basketball episode with Ken Pomeroy. In Ken’s fifth appearance on the podcast, we focused on many NCAA Tournament related topics.
The 49-minute episode can be found below or on any of your preferred podcast platforms.
Topics include:
Why home win percentage was so down this season
Are NCAA Tourney games fundamentally different from the regular season?
Are slow paced teams really more upset prone?
Does Ken fill out a bracket?
How good is Houston?
Why Gonzaga was the consensus overall #1 despite an underwhelming resume/WAB
Do you really need a top 25 offense and defense to be a national title contender?
The Secret to Winning Your Bracket Pool
Over on the YouTube channel, we published two different videos in preparation for the tournament.
The first one was on bracket strategy and the concept of a “value pick”.
The video walks you through the general philosophy that I use when filling out a bracket. A lot of the information in the video was derived from TeamRankings’ series of articles on bracket strategy.
All 68 NCAA Tournament Teams in 12 Minutes
Finally, the second YouTube video we published was our annual “68 Teams” video — featuring one scouting fact or theme for every team in the field.
This season’s edition can be found below. For reference, here are also the 2019 and 2021 versions.
A big thank you to the team of scouts that helped with this video.
Eric Shapiro, Lucas Shapiro, Rafi Goldman, Justin Clareman, Jackson Johnson, Jason Fang, and Colin Donahue.
Their help was instrumental in making the video as high-quality and substantive as possible.
